Leather is Art!

After making the series Lixão, in 1988, the artist became obsessed with the repetition of objects and began to investigate the complexity of a world full of things that say a lot about the human being, his presence in the world, and how he transforms this reality through his work, through his culture. Each painting or each series of works can be something interminable, talking about things that have no end. The characteristics of the leather-footwear industrial work, in which he has many influences in the Vale do Rio dos Sinos region, are incisively present since 1996 among the themes of his paintings. They are a source of plastic elements that allow for a deeper understanding of painting and drawing.

The series arrangement, which is a characteristic of the culture of the industrial age and of the ways the social world organizes itself and relates to nature in modernity, is the poetic motto that permeates many of the artist's works. She created a very strong identity relationship with the communities of Vale do Sinos, by revealing a creative look at industrial daily life, through paintings in which leather, shoes and shoeboxes are accumulated. But the playful tone as it treats the repetition of modern life also continues with the bouquets of flowers wrapped in newspaper or children's toys.

How could a visual artist inserted in a universe surrounded by the leather-footwear tradition fail to take a look at this product? Impossible. Ariadne has been imbued with the art of drawing and painting shoes in Novo Hamburgo since 1995. Seeing corners of textures where the ordinary eye cannot reach. “This is the beautiful side of shoe production,” says Ariadne. In your case, the paintings speak for themselves. The shoemaker from the beginnings of the Brazilian footwear industry owns his art, as well as an untidy storeroom, printed on canvas in which the technique is oil pastel and acrylic paint. Ariadne sees art, technology, the nobility of leather, all out of place but strangely organized, waiting for the transforming hands. Including the artist's hands. “We are a multiplicity of individuality. Either you massify everything, or individualize it”, he says. Actively participates in footwear fairs throughout Brazil.

In 2005, recognition for her work led her to exhibit at the WSA Shoe Show in Las Vegas, USA. Footwear does not synthesize your work. It is not by chance that he brought her and crossed her paths in Vale do Sinos, the birthplace of Brazilian footwear. There is much more than chance in your work. The one who identifies beauty in the simplest of things in the fashion world: a pair of shoes.
